FEMILIFT - NON-SURGICAL LASER VAGINAL TIGHTENING FOR URINARY INCONTINENCE AND VAGINAL LOOSENESS

Dr. Eskandar J. Simhaee is the first Doctor on Long Island, and Long Island's Premier Femilift Provider who studied and introduced his gynecological patients to this non-invasive, FDA-approved laser vaginal resurfacing to address several common concerns amongst women. With age, heredity and after birthing many women develop vaginal laxity, causing decreased sexual sensation, stress urinary incontinence, and/or after menopause vaginal dryness that becomes an issue. These concerns can become major issues in everyday life.  Decreased sexual pleasure can affect relationships or marriages while loose or weakened urethral walls lead to involuntary loss of urine during activities such as laughing, coughing, sneezing, exercising and sex.

Femilift is ideal for women who are experiencing:

- Urinary Incontinence

- Dypareunia (Painful Sex)

- Vaginal Atrophy

- Vaginal Laxity

- Women seeking enhanced sexual sensation for herself and her partner

Dr, Mickey Karram, the Director of Fellowship Program on Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio spoke at the 2014 Pelvic Anatomy and Gynecologic Surgery Symposium in Las Vegas. He spoke about a trial that assessed the use of CO2 fractional laser therapy on 30 women with vaginal health issues due to menopause. All 30 women were treated with fractional laser therapy which delivers CO2 laser energy to the vaginal wall to promote vaginal mucosal revitalization and a return to premenopausal vaginal health. This procedure is minimally invasive and painless. Femilift is performed in an office setting and does not require anesthesia. Fractional Laser Vaginal Therapy is performed in 3 treatments.

In Dr. Kerram’s study, all 30 patients experienced overwhelmingly positive and immediate results after their first fractional laser vaginal therapy with even more drastic results after the third treatment. The women showed highly statistically significant improvements in symptoms such as dryness, pain, itching, painful urination, and painful intercourse. They experienced no side effects or adverse reactions and showed an escalation of progress with each treatment.

Issues of vaginal health are commonly seen in postmenopausal women, breast cancer survivors, and women who have had a hysterectomy. Fractional Laser Vaginal Therapy is particularly well suited for patients who cannot, or elect not to, receive estrogen therapy. In the U.S., there are nearly 46 million women between the ages of 50 and 80, and more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors.

The results of fractional laser vaginal treatment of vaginal atrophy are quite impressive. Currently, physicians have a limited number of treatment options, and many patients either cannot use these standard therapies or find them to be unsatisfactory. Fractional laser vaginal treatment is able to fill this important medical need for a very common and debilitating problem. It has the potential to become a preferred treatment approach for a lot of patients who are suffering from genitourinary syndrome of menopause.

Dr. Simhaee uses FemiLift with your own individual cover probe as a fractional laser vaginal treatment which is designed to stimulate and promote the regeneration of collagen fibers and the restoration of hydration and elasticity within the vaginal mucosa. The laser releases energy through a special pulse and the laser energy heat penetrates to a depth that stimulates the synthesis of new collagen which results in the thickening of the vaginal skin and increasing moisture and better lubrication which restores the vagina to a state similar to before menopause.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation is specifically approved by the FDA for treatment of post-menopausal vaginal atrophy with dyspareunia (thinning of the vaginal lining that occurs when estrogen decreases after menopause and leaves many women unable to have intercourse because of pain and dryness). It also decreases the risk of pelvic prolapsed in treated women.

FemiLift is a gentle CO2 fractional treatment for controlled safety and accuracy with a maximum precision Alma CO2 laser. After the procedure, women can expect to have an enhanced vaginal tone that promotes lubrication and blood circulation which improves sexual stimulation. Women that were suffering from urinary incontinence often see an improvement in their symptoms that can be significant enough to forgo corrective surgery.

Most patients sense a healthier, tighter vaginal wall immediately. However, the natural repair process will continue to progress during the weeks following the FemiLift treatment. Collagen remodeling takes time and will continue to progress months after treatment. It is after the third treatment that patients will get their maximum, long-lasting benefits.

A worldwide study conducted by OBGYNs recently revealed that vaginal laxity is the number one concern of women after childbirth and as a result of the aging process, even more so than weight gain and stretch marks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT LASER VAGINAL TIGHTENING

WITH FEMILIFT:

How is laser vaginal rejuvenation performed?

A small, cylindrical rod is gently inserted into your vagina while thermal energy targets the surrounding vaginal tissue. The procedure feels similar to other gynecological exams with a slight tingle of warmth.

How many treatments will I need?

While you may notice slight improvements after one session, we recommend a series of three treatments for optimal and long lasting results.

How soon will I be able to have sex following non-surgical vaginal tightening?

Sexual intercourse following laser vaginal tightening should be avoided for 5-7 days.  Strenuous exercises should also be avoided for several days. Any other concerns will be addressed during your consultation.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for laser vaginal tightening?

Laser vaginal tightening is safe for most women, including those using different forms of birth control, who have given birth more than 3 months prior as well as women who suffer from other vaginal related issues such as pelvic pain, vaginal prolapse, pelvic relaxation, stress urinary incontinence, endometriosis and more. Vaginal tightening is also ideal for post-menopausal women to increase lubrication and decrease pain during sex.

How is laser vaginal tightening different from other procedures?

Laser vaginal tightening is non-surgical and requires no incisions, downtime or anesthesia.  This eliminates any risks associated with surgical alternatives.

Are there any side effects I should know about?

You may experience spotting or a watery vaginal discharge for the first couple of days following your procedure. Increased vaginal sensation, improved lubrication and more intense orgasms will continue to improve with each treatment.
